Aryana Adkanian is a Senior Marketing Automation Strategist at 829 Studios in Boston, MA.

I'm obsessed with email and SMS marketing, working closely with e-commerce companies ranging from health & beauty start-ups to fashion & apparel luxury brands. From conceptualization to launch to data analysis, I bring excitement and an attention to detail when activating and optimizing successful retention and lifecycle programs.

When I'm not populating a marketing email or poring over a spreadsheet, I enjoy mentoring fellow marketers and helping them succeed by sharing my knowledge and time. I also find joy in crafting effective written communications to colleagues and clients (I completed my English degree 7 years ago, but the love of words has stayed with me). Every message I create, marketing or otherwise, comes to life through precision and care. My clients agree that I bring passion to work with me every day.

829 Studios

May 2021 – Present

As Senior Marketing Automation Strategist, my focus lies in email and SMS retention programs for e-commerce companies, though I’ve also worked with museums, hotels, and resorts. I help direct-to-consumer brands drive more new subscribers, engagement, and revenue by analyzing data and making informed, strategic decisions. I encourage constant A/B testing to achieve optimal results.

Klaviyo is my preferred email and SMS marketing platform for e-commerce brands. I’ve led a migration of a robust SMS marketing program from Attentive to Klaviyo.

In December 2023, I was selected out of ~200 employees to take part in an initial launch of a Leadership Coaching program. At the same time, I was part of the second cohort of 829’s Coaching Companions, a manager training program.

As chair of 829’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging committee, I created new internal processes and helped lead weekly committee meetings. My most important contribution was when I led a company-wide presentation on mental health, which included detailing my own mental health journey as a way to raise awareness of certain mental health conditions and end stigmas.

My insights were featured in Klaviyo’s blog, “5 steps to improve placed order rates.” I was also quoted in Klaviyo’s 2024 Benchmark Report.

E-Cloth

January 2020 – May 2021

As Community Marketing Coordinator, I wore a variety of hats, from managing the brand’s email program to creating a consumer-facing knowledge base of the brand’s robust product line up. I also served in customer experience, answering consumer questions and concerns via chat, email, and phone.

After my promotion from Associate to Coordinator, I trained a new Associate on all things E-Cloth.

Daily Journal

May 2018 – November 2019

As Digital Media Manager, I ensured the newspaper’s online presence was engaging, effective, and consistent. I managed the newspaper’s email marketing program and their social media accounts. I updated the website’s homepage every morning with the top stories of the day, and quickly pivoted strategy to align with breaking news stories.

As Reporter, I wrote feature articles and news stories, as well as editorial columns and media reviews. My work reached the front page of the newspaper on several occasions, and my byline frequently appeared on the front of the newspaper’s Life section.

In August 2024, I received a Master of Arts degree in Communication Management with a concentration in Marketing Communciation from the University of Denver. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

My undergraduate studies took place at Governors State University and Kankakee Community College, both in Illinois. I majored in English and minored in psychology, graduating from GSU with a 4.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. My extracurricular activities included being an editorial board member of Reconstructed, GSU’s literary arts journal.
